America Best Nation in the World with an Inmate Count Higher then Everyone Else

April 27, 2008 · Leave a Comment

As the Nytimes reports,

The United States has less than 5 percent of the world’s population. But it has almost a quarter of the world’s prisoners.

There are two ways of looking at this: one we are a criminal bunch that are set on finding the American dream by any means necessary or our laws are making our citizens outlaws.

I am not the authority on this but it is an interesting thing to contemplate.

JD Supra provides indepth Legal Advice for Free

April 27, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I was reading the New York Times this morning and I was amazed to find that lawyers are beginning to put contracts, as well as other legal work, online as a free sample of some of the work they can do for clients.  This service offered by JDSupra.com.

As pointed out by the Nytimes,

“Services like JD Supra can provide background information for consumers before they engage a lawyer, he said, “and possibly provide them one day with the tools to bypass the lawyers altogether.”

I think that offereing these legal services is a great idea because it gives consumers the ability to see lawyers in action before they already have too many legal bills to say no.  With this and other services consumers can shop for lawyers through their handy work just like they would shop for clothes based on designers.  Pretty sweet. It will be interesting to see how this service develops into better legal services for everyone.

Adventures in the Park with Remy Martin

April 26, 2008 · 2 Comments

No.  Not the booze the dog.

At first I did not what to think of him.  Then I decided that we might have common interests and so we began to play.  We ended up bonding over fried chicken and his friend hampster.

After a glorious day of meeting other people and dogs in the park we returned home to fight a bit over hamster and roll around.  In the end he napped in my bed where he is resting peacefully now.

Overall a fun day of adventures after a long weekend.

Oh also Gena is here and we are blogging about things and talking about  cool things that we can blog about.  She is Remy’s “handler” and represents him in his professional career.

Room is Now Clean, Coffee Blogging Today!

April 26, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I finished cleaning my room this morning.  It’s a great feeling because it has been something that’s been pressing on me for months now but I have been too lazy to do anything about it.

Now I have to clean my study which is even worse.
On a more work related note I have to teach someone at blogofmind the joys of RSS and trackbacks and other blogging fun. Working on Saturday’s sucks but at least I get coffee out of it.

Operation Less Stuff Underway

April 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment

This is not me.

So far so good.  My room is now cleaned and things are in seperate piles just like I wrote about in my last post.

Its just a huge pile in the middle of my floor right now.  Somehow this makes it feel better then it was before so I am still pumped about it.

I donated an old computer to TecsChange a Roxbury, MA based charity that works to promote social change.

Hooray for spring cleaning!
I will upload some photos once i have them to this post to make it feel more complete.

Minimizing the “Stuff” in my Life

April 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I have too much stuff so I have decided this weekend is put all of my stuff someplace else weekend.  I found some inspiration from this old zenhabbits article.

I tried to break things down into steps.  Today is dedicated to grouping my stuff into piles.  One pile for things that I must keep(computer that I am writing this post on, bed I sleep on, clothes that I wear).  Another pile is going to be stuff that I should not have and should send home(family photo albums, random childhood toys, other stuff I’m surprised I have).  I think its best to keep things like this so that my kids don’t yell at me for having nothing to look at from my childhood.  Maybe this is just me being too vain but I feel like they might be slightly interested in all the really old stuff their dad played with.  I’m going to donate some of the stuff that I have because I am too lazy to list it all for sale on amazon and feel like giving back from a world I have taken so much from (har har) might be a good idea.  Lastly I want to use my amazon sellers account to justify all of the things I have been buying with amazon prime, which is amazing.

Having  painted a gigantic chalk board wall in my room for fun and pleasure I have no realized that I can use it for writing down my schedule and other fun productive things.  I will keep writing about how this shows to help or just stress me out.
I have tried to do this before but my new angle is that I will actually put things in boxes and ship them to places in order to ensure that they absolutely make it to where they need to go.
I have found myself trying to stall this from getting started by just re-reading and re-checking this post so I believe that this means its time to get started.

April 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Gena, friend blogging fun

Sometimes things take a buddy to get things done: acro yoga, high fives, hand shakes–the list goes on forever.

I am happy to announce that my “buddy” and fellow co-worker Gena is starting a blog called BlogofMin*d.

wes anderson

I think that the best way to describe what you are doing is to just start doing it.  So here I am writing a blog so that I have a place to express what I feel about the world around me in Boston.  It is share the details of my life as a kid who loves art, tech and the world around me.

Sometimes I go on adventures, solve mysterys and explain how I see life.

I will be writing about all of this with some photos/videos to make it more understandable.
